With all the attention on the national and state level about the need for new energy sources, nuclear power is more often than not mentioned as one of the viable alternatives.  In Minnesota, the Legislature passed a moratorium on nuclear power plants.  A question being considered in Minnesota and across the country is whether the moratorium remain in place or should it be repealed?

The Minnesota State Bar Association’s Environmental, Natural Resources & Energy Law and Public Utility Law Sections are joining forces to present what promises to be a lively panel discussion and CLE at 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM on December 2, 2009 in Minneapolis “The Role of Nuclear Energy in a Low Carbon Future – Should Minnesota Repeal The Nuclear Moratorium?”  Presenters on the panel include: Bill Grant, Associate Executive Director, Izaak Walton League of America and Ben Golnik, Sensible Energy Solutions for Minnesota.  The Moderator of the discussion will be Alexandra Klass, Associate Professor of Law, University of Minnesota Law School.  One hour of Standard CLE credits have been applied for.  For information on registering for the CLE, please go to the MSBA’s website or complete and submit the following form:  MSBA Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy and Public Utility Section Members: Free;  MSBA Members (but Not Environmental, Natural Resources & Energy Law or Public Utilities Law Section Members): $10.00;  Non-MSBA Members: $15.00;  and Law Students: Free.  Teleconferencing is available.
