Minneapolis environmental law attorney Joseph Maternowski will present a one hour CLE to the Hennepin County Bar Association’s Small Firm and Solo Section at Noon on Friday, February 4, 2011. Mr. Maternowski, Chair of Hessian & McKasy’s Environmental Law Attorney, will provide a review of environmental issues that lawyers may face when their client seeks to purchase or sell commercial or industrial property. The session, which is designed to give attorneys from small firms and solo lawyers practical information, will include a review of the environmental due diligence process including:
- Phase I Environmental Site Assessment,
- Phase II investigation of soil, groundwater and vapor conditions;
- Reporting requirements that may apply; and
- Seeking liability assurances from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s (MPCA’s) Voluntary Investigation and Cleanup and Petroleum Brownfields Programs.
Mr. Maternowski will also discuss liability arising out of federal, state and local environmental laws that regulate the operations of businesses.
