North Dakota is experiencing an unprecedented economic boom related to energy. As development occurs and State and local government units expand infrastructure to support this new economic activity, contractors, owners and operators of sites need to be aware of stormwater permitting requirements.  North Dakota, like its neighbor to the east Minnesota, has permits that apply to construction and industrial operations. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is also involved and has taken its independent enforcement actions when it detects permit violations.
The session will cover recent developments in construction and industrial stormwater permitting in Minnesota and North Dakota. Speakers will cover legal issues, monitoring, inspection, response to state and federal enforcement actions. Attendees will learn about limiting their liability, appropriate Best Management Practices and steps to ensure compliance under state and federal permits.
Environmental law attorney Joseph Maternowski advises businesses, units of local government and individuals on enforcement and permitting matters.
