April 6, 2013  Hessian & McKasy attorney Joseph Maternowski will be speaking at the The 9th Annual Environmental Institute on Thursday, April 17, 2013 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The Environmental Institute, presented by Minnesota Continuing Legal Education and the Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association, is Minnesota’s premiere environmental CLE.

Attorney Maternowski will present a portion of the 2013 Case Law, Regulatory, and Legislative Update  that is offered to all attendees in the morning.  Mr. Maternowski will review case law and regulatory developments relating to the federal Comprehensive Environmental Response and Liability Act (“CERCLA”), the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (“RCRA”) and the Minnesota Environmental Response and Liability Act (“MERLA”). Other case law and regulatory developments relate to Air and Climate Change, Water Law and Environmental Review and Environmental Rights Update.

The 2013 Environmental Institute’s Keynote Address, “Global Challenges to Sustainability: What Every Lawyer Needs to Know About the Future of the Planet,” will be delivered by Professor Jonathan Foley, Director of the University of Minnesota’s Institute on the Environment.

In the afternoon course attendees have an opportunity to attend Small Group Sessions on a variety of topics including: Air Basics; Takings and Transmission; Frac Sand Mining: Environmental and Regulatory Developments; How to Obtain Effective Review of a Project; How to Sue the Government; Wind Energy Development – Perspectives on Moving Forward; Stormwater Permitting and Enforcement: Current Developments; Building Your Practice Professional and Ethically (1.0 ethics credits applied for); Contaminated Property Basics; Global Product Compliance; Nonferrous Metallic Mining in Minnesota: regulatory and Legal Issues; and Agriculture and Environment.
